11.12.09

This week has been full of things going on...there is hardly ever a dull moment around here... No matter how busy.. I always like to stop and give thanks for the many things that happen in my life on a daily basis. In no particular order..., I am thankful for:
  • the ability and desire to read... I have traveled the world and had adventures galore due to the thousands of books I have read in my lifetime!
  • Being able to have happy healthy children. Even when they are pains in the bum... I am so thankful for them.
  • I am thankful for Heavenly Fathers gentle reminders to not pursue things of the world, but to aspire to something higher... I want to be everything I am supposed to be according to HIS plan... and I hope and pray I am worthy of it all
  • I am thankful to have a positive spirit tat gets me thru even when inside I really want to scream and cry sometimes
  • I am thankful to people willing to trade/barter services thus blessing both parties involved instead of making everything about the $$$
  • I am thankful to be just sitting here thinking of all the things I am grateful for... =)
  • the men and women who have died, who will die, who will fight, and who have fought... to allow me to live in the US and enjoy freedoms and rights and family
  • for those rare but awesome days when the kids listen to me and make it the whole day without fighting and driving me to drinkin... lol..

Doing the BES....

Ok all... This week one of my things to do was working on staying up with my Raw foodness.... I am trying really hard to not say diet... as this is not a come and go thing. I want this to be a way of life for me, and eventually for my family. I want it to stick with us, and not just be another fad.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to participate in the next BES going on over at Raw Divas... you can check it out for yourself by clicking HERE . I started it on Monday... and thought it has only been two days... I am so excited!! There is a series of days to prep for the actual 30 day program. THats what I am doing now. Its about working through emotions, the whys of what you do, and the hows and such. THere is a work book to help you put down on paper, getting out of your head, exactly what you want to do. Did I say Im excited about this?? lol...

Im supposed to tell myself daily affirmations. By telling myself these things, I can help manifest them in my life.

  • I choose to create My Life, My HEalth, and My happiness
  • I Choose to be truly grateful for the health and the energy I have now
  • I choose to eat fresh, raw fruits and veggies and my body and tastebuds love it!
  • I choose to eat when I am hungry. My food energizes and supports me.
  • I deserve and chose to expierence vibrant health and boundless energy.
  • I choose positive thoughts, words, deeds, and relationships to increase my energy and the energy of those around me
  • I am at peace with new choices and new behaviors
  • Relaxation makes everything easier. I choose to relax and feel at peace with my body, my emotions, and my expierence
  • I choose to excersize daily and my body  loves it!
  • I am aware of my feelings, and I choose to be present to them
  • I accept my expierences and choose to constantly learn and grow
  • I AM beautiful, and my beauty radiates and attracts good things and great people!
I thought I would share these with you all as there are some pretty powerful statements going on here. I hope that you might feel inclined to copy these affirmations, tpe them to your mirror and do them yourselves! I know I am!! =)

Also... in conjunction with the BES I am doing now.... I am also honored to be able to help participate in writing for The Green Smoothie Queen's Blog (Thanks to Tera and Aran!!!) Hugs!!! I hope you will go and check it out over there!! Never know what you will find!

Are you emotionally prepared?

Here is another post I wrote for Modern Molly Mormon about being emotionally prepared....

I feel that more often than not, we use food, medication, alcohol, drugs and whatever else we can find.. to make ourselves numb. If it means feeling anything OTHER than happiness, joy, anything feel good... we stuff it and try to make it go away.

I think that to be positive, and to allow ourselves to grow and improve we NEED to make sure that we are healthy emotionally. So here is my post... let me know what you think! =)

Another way we need to make sure we are preparing is by learning to be open to the full effect of our emotions.More often than not we tend to try to make ourselves numb to anything negative or sad. I know I do. I tend to do a lot of emotional eating when I am feeling frustrated, sad, and sometimes even just because I'm bored. If I have nothing going on... or the kids are stressing me out, and there is a pint of rocky road in the freezer... I can manage.

I may end the day 10 pounds heavier but I'm a happy camper.

Can you relate?

In times of crisis.. those comfort foods we enjoy may or may not be available. There may or may not be ways for us to numb our feelings with outside sources. We might not be allowed the luxury of stressing out, giving into sadness or just being able to scream!

In times of crisis, being an emotional wreck could mean life or death for ourselves or those around us. We learn NOW, how to understand the why, what and hows of our feelings. By allowing ourselves to "participate" in the full range of the feelings we have been blessed with, we will not only have a reason to draw closer to the Lord on a regular basis, but we will also be more emotioanly balanced.

"We must have pain so that we may have joy..." Emotions are a part of what make us, well us.

When times get tough, this can be one of those traits we want to have.. one of those that may make us or break us. We have to be able to cope, we have to be able to remain calm, we have to be able to communicate. Daily practice of these things, will prepare us for those times when we will really, really need to put emotional preparedness to use. By working to be in tune with our feelings daily, we allow ourselves the oppertunity to become humble and grow closer to Heavenly Father.

It is not only a way for personal self growth, but tremendous spiritual growth as well. So next time you start prowling the kitchen... looking for something to snack on... stop and ask yourself...are you really hungry? Or are you just bored? It is my prayer that we will be inspired to stop and think, and examine our emotional health, and to find ways to become more emotionally prepared.

11.7.09

This week has seemed to fly by!! Crazy!!! But I don't know that we were having enough fun for it to go by so fast... lol.... This week we have worked on math, spelling, reading, writing and history/geography. The kids have taken days of here and there.. and now we a re a little bit behind the schedule we wanted to keep. We wanted to finish our Saxon Math book by the holidays so we could tke a few weeks off and then come back and start the next level. However.... it doesnt look like it will be that easy.. =) The upside is that its our own schedule and so I can adjust it accordingly... lol... We babysat for a lady from church this week as well. We watched her kids two days.. to see how it worked out... and this next week will have them three days out of the week for about 6-8 hours each day... This makes it interesting for the kids. Makes it more purposeful to get their work done in the morning time so they can play and help with the littler kids during the afternoon time. =) Oh.. I almost forgot... NanoWrimo started up again!! I am wayy behind in my word count... but planning to make that up this next week... If your participating and want to connect.... Im on there as JessLeonard... Its been a good week I think.... no harm no foul right?? lol... Hope you all had a wonderful week!! Looking forward to reading what you all did!!

11.5.09

This last week has been trying for us here. I started babysitting, and so we have extra kiddos running around the house. This makes on certain days for a more hectic school schedule, as well as chore schedule. Of course... by the end of the week I expect us to be in the groove of how things will go. =) THough we are faced with challenges on so many levels, every day,it is always nice to sit back and think of those things I am grateful for... and so my list this week is: I am thankful for my laptop.. because it provides my me time I am thankful for a husband who works hard at a crappy job because at least it is a job I am thankful for a daughter who is old enough to help with dishes and cooking and cleaning and watching her sister I am thankful for a son who is old enough to do yard work, and help out when needed I am thankful for kids who know when mom needs a hug or cuddles I am thankful for the friends I have here.. online.... my life gets so busy sometimes it is hard to go outside my box and meet new friends... I am thankful for those of you who correspond with me regularly here... You are my "adult conversation" many a day. So thank you! =) I am thankful for this beautiful weather we have been having that allows us to spend time outside, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. I always love to hear what you are all thankful for...looking forward to your list this week! =)
